Peekabout generates nature scavenger hunts for family walks. It is available as a mobile app (iOS and Android) and a website at peekabout.app.
Peekabout does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password.
When you generate a hunt, the following is sent to our server:
This data is used solely to generate your hunt. Child ages are not linked to any identity. We do not know who you are, where you are, or whose children they are.
Mobile app: Hunt history and settings are stored on your device only, in a local database. Nothing is synced to the cloud. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.
Website: Generated hunts are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure so they can be shared via URL. No personal data is attached to stored hunts - only the hunt content, biome, weather, season, and child ages.
Peekabout does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels. We do not use cookies for tracking. The only data stored in your browser is your theme preference (light or dark).
We do not collect names, email addresses, locations, photos, or any other personally identifiable information. We have no way to identify individual users.
Hunt generation uses Anthropic's Claude API to create hunt items. The data sent to Anthropic consists of the hunt parameters listed above (biome, weather, season, ages, free text). Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
The app and website are hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare's privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Peekabout is designed for families - adults and children using the app together. It does not collect any personal information from children or adults. Child ages are sent as bare integers to calibrate hunt difficulty and are not linked to any identity.
Mobile app: All data is on your device. Delete the app to delete the data.
Website: Shared hunts are stored indefinitely so that shared links continue to work. They contain no personal data.
Server logs: Cloudflare may retain standard web server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of their infrastructure. We do not access or analyse these logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Since we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have shared a hunt via the website and would like it removed, contact us and we will delete it.
If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
